Tuberculosis is an airborne disease caused by bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The notification rate of tuberculosis has dropped significantly over the past several decades. The decline levels off in recent years.
In 2010, the male to female ratio was 1.7:1 for number of tuberculosis notification. It was rare in children under 15 years old but more common in old people.
