In 2014, 15,313 in-patient discharges and deaths were related to diabetes mellitus, accounting for 0.8% of all in-patient discharges and deaths.



Diabetes mellitus was the tenth leading cause of death for female in year 2014. In 2014, the number of deaths were 390, accounting for 0.9% of all registered deaths. The crude death rates for male and female were 5.6 and 5.2 per 100,000 population of respective sex.



A decreasing trend was observed in the age-standardized death rate due to diabetes mellitus since year 2001.



In 2014, the age-specific death rates due to diabetes mellitus increased markedly after age 70.
