In 2015, 36,826 inpatient discharges and deaths were related to the malignant neoplasm of breast, commonly known as breast cancer, which accounted for 18.0% of hospitalization due to all types of cancers.

Breast cancer was the sixth leading cause of cancer death in Hong Kong in 2015. In 2015, 637 persons died from breast cancer, accounting for 4.4% of all cancer deaths. The crude death rate for female was 16.2 per 100,000 population of female.
